U2inSL FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: Who are the main producers of U2inSL?
A: Demian Caldera and DarkDharma Daguerre are the producers, creators and managers of U2inSL. Before Second Life, they created "U2 in There" (the virtual world of There). U2inSL has been in existence in Second Life since 2005 and is the very first tribute band which existed in Second Life and which started it for all the others now in Second Life.

Q: Why do you do this?
A: We do this for the love of the band and all that they stand for, but also because Second Life allows for boundless creativity, we wanted to see how good of a recreation we could do. We also do what we do in support of the causes which the real band supports such as One Campaign, Music Rising, African Well Fund, War Child, and others.
__________________________
Q: For heaven's sake, don't you have a real life?
A: All of us involved with U2inSL do indeed have real lives. Many of us work full time in the "real world". Most of us do not spend all our time in Second Life. However, we do this for the love of the band and the high level of creativity it involves!
__________________________
Q: How old are you?
A: Although Second Life is now open to kids 13 and over, we are all long-time Second Life residents and adults who are 18 years or older.
__________________________
Q: Aren't you ripping off the real band's IP?
A: We state we are role players, the virtual equivalent of thousands of real world U2 tribute bands. We have a disclaimer sign up at every Second Life concert stating we are NOT the real band and that no infringement is intended. Unlike real world tribute bands, and also many other Second Life tribute bands, we make NO money from what we do. We hold concerts in support of the various causes the real band supports.
__________________________
Q: Does the real band know about you?
A: Yes, we believe they do. In fact, U2inSL management had approved of using video footage of U2inSL at their scheduled June 25, 2010, Glastonbury Festival appearance during the band's performance of Even Better Than the Real Thing. Unfortunately, due to Bono injuring his back, the band's appearance was canceled. We have high hopes that the footage might still be used at some upcoming U2 show in the future.

Q: How can I attend one of your shows?
A: Join Second Life. Once you are inworld feel free to instant message (IM) DarkDharma Daguerre. We'll be happy to help you out!
__________________________
Q: How long is a show?
A: A Second Life U2inSL concert is the same length as a real life concert.
__________________________
Q: What do you use for the soundtrack?
A: We use very good quality bootleg (fan-made) concert recordings.
__________________________
Q: Where did you get the avatars?
A: We, who are involved in the production of U2inSL, have created the avatars. The U2inSL avatars have evolved from 2005's first versions to the more highly detailed and evolved avatars you see today.
__________________________
Q: Is this like a video game where the avatars are NPO's?
A: No, each avatar is run by a real separate individual person connecting to that individual avatar. There is no remote control. Nothing is automatic or computer generated in regards to their actions.
__________________________
Q: Who runs the U2 band avatars?
A: A group of friends who have been in Second Life for many years and who come from Europe and USA individually and manually operate each separate U2inSL avatar. As mentioned above, there is no pre-programmed operation involved.
__________________________
Q: Where did you get the stage and all the U2 stuff?
A: Everything you see for U2inSL was custom built by those of us involved in its production. Some things took months to create.
__________________________
Q: Why are there so few people in the audience?
A: In Second Life, privately owned parcels of land are called "sims". Each sim can hold, typically, a maximum of 80 to 100 avatars. We WISH we could have thousands more at a show, however, this is not yet possible in Second Life.
__________________________
Q: Why are people in the audience bald?
A: If you play other online games or are involved in other online worlds, then you are probably aware that "lag" (slowdown of the client) can occur in certain situations. In Second Life, we have found that wearing many scripts on one's avatar can greatly increase the lag. Multiply all those scripts with a full sim of avatars present and it creates HUGE lag! Therefore, at every U2inSL show, we ask all concert goers to limit their worn scripts to 50 or fewer to reduce the lag which in turn allows the virtual band more ability to move about and perform the show!
